Justin Gregg

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER

Justin Gregg

Dr. Justin Gregg is a scientist, bestselling author, and performer who has mastered the art of making people laugh while they learn about what makes us uniquely — and ridiculously — human. A senior research associate with the Dolphin Communication Project and adjunct professor at St. Francis Xavier University, Justin holds a PhD in Psychology from Trinity College Dublin.

He is the author of the international bestseller If Nietzsche Were a Narwhal: What Animal Intelligence Reveals About Human Stupidity — translated into 17 languages — along with Humanish and Are Dolphins Really Smart? His writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, and Slate, and he has been featured on CBS Mornings and ABC News Live.

An improv instructor, musician, and voice actor, Justin brings sharp science, quick wit, and creative storytelling to every talk — part science lecture, part comedy show, and entirely thought-provoking. His keynotes explore how animal minds illuminate human decision-making, creativity, and empathy, and how humor helps ideas stick.

About the Celebration of Science

This special evening celebrates the Monell Chemical Senses Center’s accomplishments while offering insight into its vision for the future. The program begins at 5:30 pm with a reception at Vie, bringing together friends, supporters, and members of the Monell community.

The reception will be followed by dinner and remarks from Monell leadership, highlighting the Center’s latest discoveries and the impact of its interdisciplinary research on taste, smell, chemesthesis, and interoception. The evening will also feature engaging remarks from a guest speaker Justin Gregg.

Designed to foster connection and conversation, the program will showcase the scientific advances made possible through community support and reflect Monell’s commitment to improving human health by unlocking the mysteries of the senses.
