Research Summary
Social interactions happen every day and we are almost unaware of the extensive processing our brain performs to differentiate familiar people from strangers and to act accordingly to the social context. My research focuses on characterizing how brain cortices process social cues to get insight into possible mechanisms that alter social interactions in certain neuropsychiatryc disorders such as Autism, and depression. Additionally, I am interested in studying alterations in neuronal systems during aging to characterize new biomarkers of early cognitive decline.
